A day of hiking has been highly fruitful in terms of photo opportunity.
Working on these images has been a pure pleasure. Not to mention, we have been incredibly lucky not to have rain during this trip.
Florrence.. Beautiful as always. Just as it has been for centuries.
This small city is so dense, and contains so many things within, that it can often seem much larger than it actually is. It also seems to be much larger because walking though these streets is somewhat of a combination of the game of frogger and indiana jones.
I know this doesn’t apply nearly to everyone, but if you wear heels in this town.. walking becomes a highly scarce skill. It took me a good two years to be able to wear whatever shoes I want in this town and not 1. demolish the shoe and everything it ever stood for and 2. destroy my ankles while face planting in some highly public piazza. So all this effort to make it across relatively short distances also make this city feel much larger than it really is.
Despite its treacherous walkways, impossible-to-find addresses, bipolar weather, freezing buildings and lack of tomato juice and sour cream (seriously, they don’t have either!..much like many other eastern european “must have in kitchen” items) - I am, still, totally and completely enamored with this gorgeous city on a daily basis.
A place to rest
The road is an amazing place to be, and there is a lot of time for reflection while you are traveling between destinations. But this is one of the few times when I have been able to sit down and recollect everything.. or at least the highlights… and ponder.
I have tonight the time to work on some of the images which I have gathered along the way, and this is one of them. This particular image was taken in France, and it makes me miss sailing all the more.
For the first time, in a long time, I have a few moments to myself in solitude. They are very much welcomed and appreciated.. and this brings you this image.
